Phyllis N. Pile Honored by Cambridge Who's Who for Demonstrating Excellence in Suicide Prevention
Ms. Pile helps people embrace the power of life as a suicide-prevention specialist and telephone listener
MANASSAS, VA, July 13, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ --Phyllis N. Pile, Telephone Listener for ACTS, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in suicide prevention.
Ms. Pile has built a strong background in areas that include counseling and support after having earned a Bachelor of Science in human relations from Trinity College and a diploma in nursing. With nearly four decades of professional experience, Ms. Pile compassionately serves individuals who are struggling with suicidal thoughts. She is available to them as a telephone listener for ACTS, a nonprofit organization that provides an array of community services. Ms. Pile receives and listens to phone calls from potential suicide victims, transfers phone calls to the police when danger is imminent, and refers callers to counseling services as appropriate. She has served in this capacity for the past 10 years.
Ms. Pile was inspired to pursue her current career path by the experience she gained as a nurse and chaplain in a hospital. She feels that she has achieved success because of the encouragement she has received from her colleagues, friends and family members. Looking ahead, she is pursuing certification as a suicide counselor and listener.
