New Christian High School Set to Launch this Fall in San Marcos
Meadowlark Christian Academy, a new high tech school for grades 7-12, is enrolling students for Fall 2011. The new school, based in San Marcos, combines classroom education with accredited, "Web 2.0" online learning and Christian ideals.

SAN MARCOS, CA, July 13, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Meadowlark Christian Academy, a new "hybrid" school that blends 21st Century learning with classical education, will open its doors on Aug. 29, 2011, in San Marcos. The high-tech Christian school, which is now accepting enrollment applications, offers accredited college-prep courses in a high-tech learning environment, founded upon Biblical truth and Christian ideals.

"For years, people have talked about giving parents a 'choice' when it comes to their children's education," says Jim Brown, Ph.D., director of the Academy. "Today, we are delivering that choice, in a new, exciting way that combines the best of traditional learning with a 'Web 2.0' experience that will engage and energize students."

Located on the campus of Meadowlark Community Church in San Marcos, Meadowlark Christian Academy is designed to offer students a safe, personal and focused educational environment. Small classrooms will help reduce distractions, and the high-tech curriculum may be tailored to suit the needs of individual students.

The Christian high school will conduct information sessions and tours of the new school, located at 1918 Redwing Street in San Marcos, on:

- 6pm, Monday, July 25;
- 6pm, Thursday, August 11; and
- 6pm, Monday, August 22.

Those unable to attend an information session are welcome to contact the school office at (760) 591-3636 and make an appointment to meet with the director or request more information.

"Gone are the days when chewing gum was one of the top problems in school," says school board member Anita Shaw. "Today, parents and teachers are concerned with weapons, drugs and sex on campus. As a private, church-sponsored school, Meadowlark Christian Academy is different. Our students and faculty will be held to a higher standard of conduct and character. Parents will feel safe dropping off their kids at school."

As a Christian college prep school, Meadowlark Christian Academy, through its partnership with Rainbow Advanced Institute for Learning (RAI), provides a college-preparatory course of study for 9th through 12th grade students that meets the requirements for admission to the California State University (CSU) and the University of California (UC) systems. All courses are approved as meeting the University of California A-G requirements and credits and diplomas earned are accredited by WASC (Western Association of Schools and Colleges).

The school's director, Jim Brown, is a veteran of both education and Christian ministry, having served as a teacher and a principal a the high school level, director of a K-12 private school, superintendent of a private school system, director of a public charter school (grades 7-12), and graduate professor of education and educational technology, as well as serving many years in university administration at the University of California San Diego. He currently serves as Associate Pastor at Meadowlark Church.

"We are thrilled to offer the first 'Christian high-tech high' of its kind," says Brown. "I believe our hybrid model will be utilized for other, similar academies at other churches in the years ahead."
