Agnes E. Maleakas Honored for Outstanding Contributions to Parochial School Education
Agnes E. Maleakas was featured in "Cambridge Publishing's Top 101 Industry Experts" book
CORNWALL ON HUDSON, NY, August 11, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Agnes E. Maleakas, former Principal of St. Thomas of Canterbury School, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in parochial school education.
For many students, being sent to the principal's office is certainly not a pleasant experience. Those who end up in the office of Agnes Maleakas, however, principal of St. Thomas of Canterbury School, usually leave feeling encouraged and well cared for. Mrs. Maleakas has spent an inspiring 32 years in the field of parochial education acquiring experience in an ample array of disciplines, particularly classroom instruction and more recently, school administration and leadership. A caring and compassionate individual, she has devoted her life's work to providing a nurturing environment in which children can learn and exceed their potential. For the past 11 years, she has directed staff and faculty in executing the school's mission of Catholic education supported by ethics and a wholesome set of values. Her remarkable leadership skills and ability to motivate others are representative of Mrs. Maleakas' natural calling and passion for her profession.
After receiving a master's degree in counseling from the University of Scranton, Mrs. Maleakas made the brave decision to continue her education and earn a certification in supervision and administration for the state of New York from Manhattan College. Though she loves working with children and taking an active role in their educational development, Mrs. Maleakas feels most fulfilled when she is able to reach out to them on a more personal level and impart valuable life lessons.
In recognition of outstanding commitment to her field, Mrs. Maleakas was selected for inclusion in "Cambridge Publishing's Top 101 Industry Experts" book. In an effort to network with other professionals and gain additional knowledge, Mrs. Maleakas is a member of The Catholic School Administrators Association of New York State, the National Association of Elementary School Principals, the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development and the National Catholic Educational Association. She gives freely of her time to the Dutchess County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, advocating for the ethical treatment of all creatures.
