During his educational career, Thomas earned a Bachelor's Degree in Commerce from the University of Kentucky in 1947. He went on to receive an LLD from Vanderbilt University in 1951. From there, he continued his studies earning a Doctorate Degree in Religion from the Missouri Seminary as well as a Doctorate Degree in Divinity and a PhD from the Universal Seminary.
