Pastor George E. McRae recognized for his religious and humanistic work through Mount Tabor Baptist Church

MIAMI, FL, March 17, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ --Pastor George E. McRae, D.Min., Pastor FOR/OF Mount Tabor Baptist Church, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in Ministerial Services.

Forty-one years ago, George E. McRae embarked on a path of service that would ultimately touch thousands of lives and alleviate some of the community's most underserved populations. Offering guidance and spiritual leadership, Pastor McRae preaches to approximately 1,500 members of Mount Tabor Baptist Church, weekly. Revered for his compassion and demonstrated leadership abilities, Pastor McRae also counsels individuals, conducts workshops within the community on education and ministry, assists substance abusers and their families and attends to aged persons and bereaving families.

Aside from his daily spiritual work, many regard Pastor McRae's greatest achievement as his establishment of Minorities Overcoming the Virus through Education, Responsibility and Spirituality. The community-based organization supports the community's HIV/AIDS population through educational and spiritual services.

Pastor McRae's efforts have not gone unnoticed, and he has received numerous honors and recognitions for his religious and humanistic work. In addition to receiving a certificate of commendation from the Eleventh Judicial Circuit of Florida and the Charles Whited Spirit of Excellence Award from The Miami Herald, Pastor McRae became the subject of a one-page feature in The Wall Street Journal. He has also held notable positions with the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People and Florida Baptist Congress of Christian Education.

Pastor McRae holds a doctor of ministry from Columbia Theological Seminary, earned in 1993, a master of divinity from The Interdenominational Theological Center, earned in 1985 and a bachelor of arts in ministry from Bethune-Cookman University, earned in 1976. His affiliations include the Miami Youth for Christ Association, Florida Health Care, Youth Vision, the Children and Parents Society and New Birth Cooperation. In his free time, Pastor McRae enjoys spending time with each of his seven children, 26 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
