Melissa K. Newcomer mentors new high school teachers
MACEDONIA, OH, December 27, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Melissa K. Newcomer, High School English Teacher at the Nordonia Hills School District, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in secondary education.
Ms. Newcomer has always wanted to become a teacher and today, has 12 years of experience in the field of education. She has met with success through her willingness to change her ways in order to improve. At the Nordonia Hills School District, she works as an English teacher at the high school level. Her responsibilities include teaching four 10th-grade honors classes and utilizing innovating instructional techniques. Ms. Newcomer also teaches an elective course, entitled the "History of Mystery," which is open to students in 10th, 11th and 12th grade.
She is a graduate of Kent State University and holds a master's degree in curriculum and instruction. A former member of the National Council of Teachers of English, Ms. Newcomer serves as a mentor to new teachers. She is also involved as a board member for Christian education at the First Congregational Church of Tallmadge. Her free time is dedicated to the American Cancer Society's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer.
