People staying on Bali may want to consider travelling to Mount Bromo for the Kasada Festival.
BALI, INDONESIA, April 29, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Anyone staying in Bali hotels during June should seriously consider making the trip to Mount Bromo.
The volcano is a spectacular sight at any time of year, but in June, it plays host to the Kasada Festival.
What's On When informs that locals perform ritual prayers and ceremonies before leading travellers across a naturally-formed sand sea to the crater.
Visitors will notice that there are offerings at the foot of the volcano, such as fruit, vegetables and even bulls, which are all blessed by a priest.
The festival is held to pay tribute to ancestors and at midnight, all those who have gathered climb to the rim of the crater and take part in a long procession along the volcano's edge.
Anyone who attends must climb to the Pura Luhur Poten Temple at the foot of Mount Bromo in order to witness the celebrations and rituals, as well as receive blessings from the local priests and shaman.
The volcano stands at 2,392m above sea level and is located in Tengger, east Java.
People who are staying on Bali that want to see the volcano and witness the Kasada celebrations can take an overnight bus from Denpasar to Probolinggo and from there on to Mount Bromo.
