TBN Ushers in New Digital Technology Two Months Ahead of Schedule
Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN) made the changeover from outdated analog to updated digital transmitting at twenty-five of its thirty-four stations.
LOS ANGELES, CA, April 24, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Just before midnight on April 16th, nearly two months ahead of the FCC's mandatory switchover date, Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN) made the changeover from outdated analog to updated digital transmitting at twenty-five of its thirty-four stations.
"We're pleased to be so far ahead of schedule with our upgrades, and want to give cable providers a head's up," says Bob Higley, vice president of affiliate sales and marketing for TBN. "Previous analog viewers may be looking for ways to watch TBN channels after the changeover, so it's an opportunity for multi-channel programming providers to gain eager faith-based subscribers by adding TBN's five digital quality channels."
Earlier this year, in more than thirty American markets including most of the top ten, TBN began multi-casting all five of its digital channels including its flagship channel TBN, the most watched and most requested faith-based channel in the nation; Smile of a Child, for children 2-12; JCTV, for young adults 13-29; The Church Channel, featuring many of the top inspirational authors and speakers in the United States; and TBN Enlace USA, offering the best of faith programming from Latin America and the United States, all in Spanish.
Following the original FCC deadline of February 17, six hundred other stations have been completely converted to digital. TBN's twenty-five stations (listed below) are among 158 stations across the country opting to upgrade to digital ahead of the June 12th deadline. Many of the stations that made the early switch to digital non-profit and educational.
