Dublin, OH, January 7, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Mary Fran Cassidy, Director of Religious Education, musician and Liturgist for St. Brigid of Kildare Parish, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of religious education.

Mrs. Cassidy has held the position of Director of Religious Education at St. Brigid of Kildare Parish for 19 years. As such, she is responsible for overseeing religious education programs for preschoolers through adults. Mrs. Cassidy also offers sacramental preparation courses, develops resources for teachers, conducts adult faith enrichment classes and certification classes for catechists/teachers, and directs retreats and workshops. As a liturgist and musician, Mrs. Cassidy also offers choral and choreography workshops and is a cantor and organist at St. Brigid of Kildare.

Before coming to St. Brigid, Mrs. Cassidy taught English, music, religion and art in junior and senior high school and college. She received her BA (Summa Cum Laude) in English and music from Silver Lake College in Manitowoc, WI, in 1975 and completed post-graduate work in music at Silver Lake College, Penn State University and Kent State University. She received her Master of Arts in Theology from Ohio Dominican University in Columbus, OH in 2003. She is a member of the Diocesan Association of Religious Educators, the Ohio Directors of Religious Education Organization, the National Conference for Catechetical Leadership, National Catholic Educational Association, National Association of Parish Catechetical Directors, the Ohio Choral Directors Association, American Choral Directors Association, and National Pastoral Musicians. In 2006, she received the Woman of the Year award from the local chapter of Knights of Columbus. In 1999, she received the Religious Education Excellence Award from the National Catholic Educational Association. Mrs. Cassidy is the author of the supplemental religion text for junior high entitled Faith and Belief.
