What do Breakfast, Microsoft Partners and Prayer Have in Common?
At the Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference in Houston, attendees heard about more than technology roadmaps and B-2-B sales strategies during the First Annual Partners in Christ Prayer Breakfast on July 9 at the Crowne Plaza, an event that attracted Microsoft partners from around the world.
/Religion News Articles/ - HOUSTON, TX, July 18, 2008 - Amid discussions evangelizing Microsoft's 2009 technology roadmap during the company's Worldwide Partner Conference in downtown Houston, the sound of another form of evangelism was heard among partners only one-mile away during the First Annual Partners in Christ Prayer Breakfast held at the Crowne Plaza on July 9.
Rising at daybreak, Microsoft partners from around the world gathered for prayer, fellowship and the opportunity to hear from keynote speaker Tommy Newberry, author of the New York Times Bestseller, "The 4:8 Principle," who shared thought-provoking insight on how applying biblical principles produces a joy-filled personal and professional life.
"The average person thinks approximately 50,000 thoughts per day, and each thought either moves us toward our full potential, or away from it," Mr. Newberry said. "Unfortunately, we have grown accustomed to viewing the world, our lives and ourselves through a lens of negativity - and that negativity stands in direct contrast to the positive, passionate and purpose-filled people God wants us to be."
Although the event was led with Christian themes, the breakfast was open to partners from all faiths.
"We are truly excited about the opportunity to intertwine our personal faiths with our business lives as a technology community," said chairman and founder of Intellinet Frank Bell. "But we are even more excited about the chance to share with others outside of the Christian faith."
At the close of the event, Partners in Christ sponsors—Ambassador Solutions, BaseNine, Heartland Technology Group, and Intellinet—presented Star of Hope representative Scott Arthur with a donation to fund the organization's mission to meet the needs of homeless men, women and their children.
The event marks the start of a Houston High Tech Prayer Breakfast which will be held annually, reminiscent of the Atlanta-based High Tech Ministries Prayer Breakfast.
